No. Most people who walk in have never grappled. Class is built so a first-timer drills next to someone who remembers being a first-timer. You set the pace, and nobody is trying to beat you.
A t-shirt and shorts or leggings — nothing with zippers or pockets. We will lend you a gi for jiu jitsu if you need one. Bring water and come with clean, trimmed nails and bare feet on the mat.
No. Training is how you get fit. Warm-ups scale, and you are allowed to sit a round out. Everyone here started somewhere less fit than they are now.
Kids classes run from age 7. We split them into ages 7–9 and 10–14 so the instruction, intensity and partner matching all fit where your child is.
Technique is taught in a controlled setting with close supervision, age-matched partners and clear rules. Kids learn to control themselves before they learn to control anyone else.
